How much does wood floor installation cost?

Nowadays there are many choices when you go to buy a floor. The old-fashioned options such as carpet and vinyl are still popular, but more and more people opt for a wooden base. A wood floor is something special. The floor gives character, and every floor is not the same because every plank has its design. The type of wood, finish, structure, and laying technique make every floor look different.

Do you have a new-build home that is less than two years old; in that case, you pay the above rates. That has to do with the high VAT amount you have to pay for it.

Is your home at least two years old; in that case, you can have your wooden floor installed for a lower VAT rate. The VAT is then 6 percent instead of 20 percent. In that case, you pay a lower amount per square meter.

Installing a wooden floor is a job that cannot be put on a general price tag. The reason for this may be exact. A wooden floor can be installed in several ways; some of the methods. We have listed them for you.

Laying floating.

● That is a method that is often used with parquet flooring, for example. An open floor is laid on the sub-floor. Just like with laminate, the parquet parts are clicked together. How much you have to pay per square meter for floating installation naturally depends on the size of a strip of parquet. The more that goes into a square meter, the higher the cost.

● The separate slats are glued together. Your floor will not show any cracks after several years of use.

● A nailed wooden floor is the most precious form. That often happens in combination with gluing. It ensures that the wood floor is nailed to the sub-floor and the sides near your wall. You sometimes hear that a base starts to 'work,' causing it to detach from the wall or causing seams. A floating wooden floor can also bulge over time. Nailing and gluing ensure that the floor stays in place.

Option 1:

What is the age of your home? A new-build home that has a wooden floor is a point of attention. The walls will still work, and therefore, your laminate or parquet must be well laid. After all, you do not want it to become detached from the walls at some point. Therefore it is good to have your wooden floor nailed and glued in a brand new home. In this case, having it installed floating can sometimes cause problems.

Option 2:

What type of parquet do you have? You can opt for parquet flooring. In principle, this is confirmed with a click system. It is available with several thicknesses of the top layer. A top layer of 1.5 mm is cheaper if you have it installed than a top layer of 2.5 mm. If you buy solid parquet or a top layer of 4 mm, you will lose most. In that case, the quality of the parquet is considerably better.

Option 3:

What VAT percentage do you pay. In a house of at least two years old, you can have your wooden floor installed at a lower VAT rate. In that case, you do not pay 21 percent VAT but 6 percent VAT. That makes a significant difference to the total bill.
